Is Your Child Struggling in School?

Are you worried about your child's progress in learning, emotional wellbeing, or social skills?

Perhaps they’re finding friendships challenging, or their social communication is causing concern.

These struggles can feel overwhelming for both you and your child, but you don’t have to face them alone.

An Educational Psychology assessment can provide clarity and guidance, helping you understand what’s going on for your child. This process delves beyond the surface, exploring not only your child’s needs but also how their school environment may be contributing to their challenges.

My approach is rooted in Positive Psychology, which means I don’t focus solely on difficulties. I work to uncover your child’s unique strengths, celebrate what’s going well, and identify practical solutions to help them thrive. Through collaboration with you, your child, and their school, I aim to create a clear picture of your child’s needs, helping pave the way for progress and growth.

Together, we can find the best ways to support your child, empowering them to flourish both in school and beyond.

Service Options

1-hour consultation

ÂŁ150

per session

This joint consultation with yourself as parent/carer and a key member of staff at school provides an opportunity to problem solve one or more concerns you may have in depth.

One-off consultations take place online via Teams.

I do not make records of these discussions so children are discussed anonymously and therefore I do not require any paperwork prior to these consults. However, I would ask for a brief overview of the concerns/focus of the session as this helps me to prepare and for those involved to get the most out of the session.

This option provides the same joint consultation with yourself as parent/carer and a key member of school staff but also provides an additional written record should this be something that you need, for example, evidence of EP involvement if you feel you need this for an EHCP application. To provide a written record I need written consent from you using a form which I will provide you and needs to be completed prior to the consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Consultation is a problem solving process which acknowledges the different knowledge and expertise of the professionals and carers involved with the child and family. It occurs between someone seeking help and others wishing to give help and will lead to positive change. The goal is to enable the person seeking help to explore possibilities and create a range of actions from which they can select ones that are most appropriate for them. The client is therefore viewed as an equal to the consultant and as such has equivalent authority in the decision making process. The establishment of an open, trusting relationship between the consultant and the client is of paramount importance.

Where possible I carry out my assessments at your child's school so that I can see the child in their school environment. These provides me with useful information, that informs my understanding of what is going on for your child. It helps me to understand how the child experiences their school environment, their relationships with others etc. Where necessary, I do also complete virtual assessments. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this further.

I do not currently take on tribunal work. However, you are free to use my report in a tribunal.

I do not diagnose conditions such as Autism or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as these are medical diagnoses.
